Sharing and how that gives others the courage to share too.
As Timo said in Coach Carter: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

"the raft was not the problem. The children said the solution should match the problem."
"Yuto's my friend. We do karate together. Sometimes he makes me mad. But I stood up for my friend."
"We come to school to be happy.... If one person is unhappy... Everyone will be unhappy."
and Kudos to standing up to their teacher. Imagine me doing that to my jc principal. hah

"But there's no certainty in life. No promise of certainty. That's why it is important to think about life"

A true letters to heaven.

Why dream?

Got this while surfing the magic forum. magicians must be one of the most inquisitive personalities in the world. Basically, there's a need to know everything especially for arcane knowledge.

Anyway, next time you are called day-dreaming. refer to this article. but since most of us are at the stage of education where lecturers usually wont chide us for not focusing, this would be of little use. But still! u never know. =)

And this might just be proof of the phrase 日有所思夜有所梦. Applaud the wise men of ancient china. lmao

Okay, here's the link: http://www.livescience.com/health/dream-problem-solving-100627.html

I should sleep more. then I would dream more. This might explains why SOME people stone alot. eg. cy. =p

How could I have forgotten

I've got new specs. Fortumately, my vision's not affected after all these treatments.. a sigh of relief!
Shouldn't have hid under the blankets to read books in primary school using the lightbulbs and torchlights given as free goodies. rahs.
Perfect eyesight beats specs and contacts handsdown any point of time.
(yes, not an advocate of coloured contacts, perfectly fine with mine unless it has lost the brown tinge to it. LOL)

this is random. been years since I've heard from kenneth. wonders how he's doing. haha

Awareness Test

The curse of the Magician. (a quick entry)

As a follow up to M.M.M and inspired from Joel. =)

For a magician, when viewing a performance. He/she wont be able to fully experience the magic being shown since he would have an inkling of how it works. Because the magician knows that somehow there is a technique to it and is trained to look for it. More often than not he/she would be analysing it for slip ups and how it can be modified for his own performance. Hence the curse of the magician.

The curse also comes from the expectation by others that the magician have a new trick for them whenever they ask for it. Hence, the magician has to be prepared at all times! Even if he/she is in a swimsuit at the pool. HAHA

Magicians are also trapped by the art that they are passionate in. For they would be constantly seeking to improve an effect such that it is totally unbreakable by others, even by other magicians. One example is the acaan wave. (a few years back). CIB wave, etc. They also would have a hard time fighting the urge to not look up new tricks and try to break them or create a similar effect. spending hours after hours fiddling the idea in their mind and becoming oblivious to their surrounding. much like a deranged scientist.

But, time to time there would be a performance whereby the magician seems to achieve the impossible. In this case, the magician viewing the performance is also able to experience it too! just in  a differnt form. For that performance would now be the 'Holy Grail' for the type of effect presented!

Also, even if the magic is lost. the performance can still be appreciated in the form of art.
how everything is executed beautifully.

Magicus. Magia. Magus.

Before I start and leave for my 'hotel' tomorrw,
here's something fun for everyone else (hence this post shall be public).
an experiment. nothing more. Ready? Here goes. =)

I'm going to ask you to think of a number from one to five.

Don’t think of the one that pops into your mind first.

Don’t think for too long either.

I’m going to send you the number now.

So, what you are supposed to do is to read my mind.

Try to picture it.

Concentrate on the number to get it right.

I'm serious, TRY to read my mind.

THIS is the number to choose.

Got it?

Scroll down once you have the number in your mind.

I shall try to bring it to the next level. its harder. yes.

Alright two numbers would have gone through your mind in those short few seconds.
Now, if you ahve done this properly, the numbers are
*drumrolls*

Spent a day trying to perfect it..  after my forays into nlp, subliminal suggestions and mentalism.
If u figure it out, good job! but this is just a simple test on a few principles, if u get what i mean. =)

and today's intended post shall begin from here.
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MAGIC.
n.
1. The art that purports to control or forecast natural events, effects, or forces by invoking the supernatural.
2a. The practice of using charms, spells, or rituals to attempt to produce supernatural effects or control events in nature.
2b. The charms, spells, and rituals so used.
3. The exercise of sleight of hand or conjuring for entertainment.
4. A mysterious quality of enchantment: "For me the names of those men breathed the magic of the past" (Max Beerbohm).
adj.
1. Of, relating to, or invoking the supernatural: "stubborn unlaid ghost/That breaks his magic chains at curfew time" ohn Milton).
2. Possessing distinctive qualities that produce unaccountable or baffling effects. (p.s its definitely accountable just not to the untrained)

Seeing how everyone is stressed up and focused with getting things done, achieving goals, realising dreams.
We often take the pragmatic approach to dealing with choices and opportunities. but we might have very well underestimated the opportunity cost(emotional health) forgone when benefits of choices are measured against a materialistic meter.
This also brings about a cause and effect phenomenon where our life may be dulled to the extent of a recurring routine that takes its toll on the human soul gradually like a frog in a pot on low heat.

Well, back to the topic of magic.

To ME

Of course! it can be (and is) used to amaze impress, even influence the people around us (even attempt to understand their thoughts)

BUT

it is also the random moment of surprises when presented on the go to friends families and strangers.
breaking them from the monotony of life
a subliminal nudge to the mind to free the imagination and let it run wild
for the impossible is achievable
even if seemingly so at first.

In a stage setting
it fills up one vision with one amazing act after another
         when performed perfectly,
it becomes a source of inspiration
tugging not only on the emotions of the audience (watch copperfield)
but bringing them momentarily to a world of fantasy
where dreams are realised with a wave of the hands.

It also helps one to look at problems from a different angle
and hence approach it from a different path.
to observe
the things surrounding us, beside us, on us, in us (well...sometimes...)
contemplating
how to turn them into pieces of miracles
that bring warmth, laughter and hope
to the world and people around us.

It is invariable that the lay-man sees magic performances as puzzles to be solved. Seriously, there is nothing wrong with that. But magic is more than that. It should be more than that. Hence, the burden lies on the magician to turn these puzzles into an art.
An impossibility.
A miracle.

why nobdy has any updates these few days?

what ifs

what if what we learnt today turns out to be false.
what if we discover that there's nothing beyond death
everything that happens is just an accident.

is it possible to discover that something does not exist?
and let it be accepted as a fact. e.g an apple falls from the tree on earth
in that case we have to be constantly proving that it does not exist
cos someone is bound to think that it exists
and there would be lots of alternative theories or claims to show that it does exist

on the other hand,
mathematically(i think)...
if you are able to set the conditions
such that if A exists, B will not exist
vice versa.
if one is able to prove B exist, then A will not exist!

In nature,
things seem to be bounded by rules
the golden ratio.
for every effect, there comes change
which brings abt an effect.
a recurrent phenomenon.
Maybe, beneath all the chaos,
there really lies order.

what if every thought/emotion of human
though seemingly unique follows a pattern.
and this pattern might show itself if we are ever able to collect all these thoughts/emotions

and all these pass through my mind before i fell asleep -_-

the grass is greener on the other side

its not so much as the grass is greener at the other side.
but because we've not been to the other side.
thus we can live out our dreams in the other side.
the fantasies untarnished, unlimited by the realities of life.
we know that the dreams arn't true.
but it just might
that place exist why not my dreams?
hence, we draw strength from
something we call Hope.

the world's beautiful cos we make it out to be so.

music touches the soul in a way vision cant. at times.

round

money doesn't make the world go round.
it makes the world seems go round
cos everyone starts approaching you
and you see everything
enabling you to get whatever you want.
but you are merely surrounded and forced to see what they want you to see.

one never know what is round unless we are able to see it from the outside.
otherwise it just seems to stretches on
or stop short by a wall.

maybe noetic science researchers should collaborate with epigenetic researchers.
if stressors can alter epigenetic marks. maybe a strong-willed person can alter his own DNA to induce change which will enhance certain abilities of his.
